Pagan / Occult Music

This will be cross-posted I’m sure...

I am looking for some good pagan-y music. Something that you might want to listen to if you are feeling particularly witchy and want to dance around in the moon light but can’t. That is the best way to describe it I think.

I was driving into work today and the moon blessed me with her fullness again, though the clouds were looming and trying to disrupt our love affair. As I hopped into my car I desired some fitting pagan music. Unfortunately the only music befitting this mood in my collection is two chant CDs, a Lorena McKennit CD, and a Celtic Christmas CD. The chant CDs are good and all but I’ve listened to them enough that I may just wing them out my window some day into the horizon. =D

I listen to Circle of Souls Pagan Radio at home on iTunes and absolutely love that station, but can never find the name of the artist of the songs I like because I’m too busy dancing around and enjoying the music. =D Then I don’t hear the songs again for a while.

So to make a short story long, what sort of ‘pagan-y’ music do YOU prefer?
I can only offer up Emerald Rose and Robert Gass, but still unsure if I would like to purchase them yet or not. =D

Thank you kindly.

Yep! This was cross-posted to celticpagans, pagan, and of course, my own journal.

Avalon Rising is good. So is Steeleye Span if you like folk music, some of which is a bit paganish. Peter Knight, their fiddle player, wrote a song called Harvest of the Moon in which Brigit is honored. :) There's also Velvet Hammer, but I understand that they've changed their name to something else...oh, and let's not forget Ian Corrigan's stuff!

Thank you very much for the list! I totally forgot Velvet Hammer. I can't believe I did that! They were the first pagan band I ever heard. I discovered them when I listened to WPBN (anyone remember that station?). A friend of mine made me a tape back then and sent it to me and all I have left is the cover. Can't find the tape to save my life. Not like I own a tape player any way!

Thanks again. I'll check out the site when I get time. :D
No problem. I'm a music freak. ;-D
Blackmore's Night is good music. I reccommend Under a Violet Moon, Shadow of the Moon, Ocean Gypsy, Magical World, and Rennaissance Fair. ^_^
Wow. Thanks!
Every is so full of suggestions on this subject. This is so awesome.
Are Magical World and Rennaissance Fair albums or artists?
They are songs by Blackmore's Night
hahahahahah :)
Thanks hon
I wish they were still together. They were an EXCELLENT Local Cincinnati Area Pagan celtic/rock/folk...band.

Their song SPIRAL DANCE was always a crowd stirrer.

I need to call them and see about their one album they released. It would be nice if they still had copies or perhaps they could put their stuff out on the net for folks to buy. They could get some nice residuals....

Awwwwwwww figures. :( Let me know if they have cds they could still sell.

I love your Chianna icon by the way!
Yeah.. I will do that. I have them on my IPOD.
